Some Bliss You Guys!

I love how all of you are responding to our Blog.  Al your suggestions and comments are definitely useful so keep them coming!
I wanted to let you all know that we have started setting limits for our classes.  This more for the weekend classes since they get CRAZY packed.  As soon as we reach our limit I post a sign that says "Class Full" and people actually respect it.  There have only been 5 people I had to turn down and of those 5, 4 actually stayed for the next class.  We'll keep this up for the weekend classes and we'll think if it's something that we should do for the weekday classes as well (Tuesday and Wednesday at 7 and 8pm since those are the only ones that get crazy packed).

Now here is a comment that I got online and it was just so encouraging and sincere that i figured I'd share it with you all:
Hello, I saw one of your videos on youtube.  I am very impressed by your work.  Would you happen to have an instructional DVD for purchase?  I live in [another state] and I don't see myself going to Washington area anytime soon.  I hope you have found a good PR person because you all have very great potential and what you have is unique and it could be the next exercise sensation as big as zumba.  I wish you the best.  Please let me know if I may purchase an instructional DVD.  Obrigada!
So I obviously love this comment because it's nice but there are other reasons as well...mainly one.  She mentions that we are NOT zumba.  I know that the Crew gave classes under "zumba" at the gyms but that was the gym's choice.  Now that we have our own location we, and I'm sure you can agree, have clearly stated how were differ from Zumba.
One main difference is that we make our own choreographies and that is probably the most important one as well.
About the DVDs, it is not the first time we get that question and as many of you know this cannot be done for legal issues with the Copy Rights that the artists have.  We are in the process of researching so let's just hope that this is another of our products soon.

Keep showing us some love guys! :]

  1. I used to go to your classes at Cub Run Rec, but since you have moved it's difficult to get out to your new studio, therefore I love the instructional DVD idea if that is a possibility. I actually purchased itune songs from your playlist too.

  2. The DVDs idea is GREAT, it will expand Sensazao ever more, yet, you are right, copyright and other legal terms with the music tracks get on the way. Maybe if you could add a similar tune or beat of the music, or actually little pieces of the song repeated over and over again because the important part is the choreography. Copyright and the way it works varies from company to company, it gets ridiculous with Warner Music Group, for instance, I remember you had problems too with one of your Youtube videos. Nevertheless, actually being in the studio (or in a Sensazao class) having the instructor and feeling all the energy from everyone is WAY BETTER than a DVD with the choreos and everything in my opinion.

  3. You guys could start posting on YouTube the break downs of all the moves to the choreography. I see this done a lot and it is not a copyright infringement if you already have the full choreography posted in long form. This could be a "fix" until you sort out the legal issues of producing your own DVDs.

Also was thinking that you guys should really get some legal protections on the "SensaZao" brand if you haven't already. I don't see any trademarking on your name or logos. So, if you don't have the legal documentation, there is nothing to keep ANYONE from using the name and logo. Just a thought! I'm sure you have a few lawyers as clients that would be happy to do the work pro bono.

  4. Is it truth that Marcelo (from Sensazao Brazil) is coming to the US this May?

  5. Please consider limiting people to taking just one class on the days that are usually packed.

  6. The DVD is definitely a bigger project we want to accomplish and with luck, it will happen soon.

We do have the Trademark on it...if that's how you say it lol. The name is ours and only ours to use and we have the right to not let others use it unless we are pleased with the kind of representation that it is giving to our name.

I love the ides of having youTube videos that break down the choreographies, I will talk with the Crew about that and hopefully you will see one soon...any suggestion on which song you'd like?

About Marcelo, no that is not true. It was a suggestion when we met him and if he does come it will be a last minute thing.

Limiting people to only one class, not sure. I mean, if they love it so much that they want to take two classes and if they are that loyal then why punish them by only allowing them to take one class?

If it is of any consolation, we are negotiating having a 11:30am class on Sundays...how many of you would be up for that? :]

  7. This blog is a great idea! You guys seem really open to having a dialogue with your customers and exploring ways to make things better, which is always good to see. :) Any chance of adding a Saturday/sunday evening class, around 6 or 7pm? That could help lessen the crowd during the saturday classes, and it would still give people lots of time to get ready before going out sat night.

  8. Thank you! We want to know how we're doing and a blog seemed wonderfully appropriate lol.
We could add another class saturday evening but not on sunday since the mall closes at 6pm. We could add a class on Sundays at 11:30am but the only problem is that everybody would have to use the Public Safety entrance and sign-in since it is before mall hours.

GUYS! Let us know what you think about that! :]

  9. If you add a class people will come especially if it is on the weekend. Many folks like earlier AM classes so they have the rest of the day to get errands/other things done.

  10. Got it! :] Did you read the blog where I suggest a 11:30am class on sundays? But that we would all have to go in through the Public Safety entrance? :]
